FRIGG Acceptance

Yipee! FRIGG accepted all 4 of my poems:
1. Roots: Sold to an Unidentified Telephone Bidder
2. Breakfast Cereals, Picasso and a Sexual Snap
3. The Wrong Miracle
4. An Agenda in a Green Zone

** These were all written in my first 30:30 and two of them were workshopped in ITWS. Thanks :)And a special thanks to Arlene who pointed me in FRIGG's direction. xxx

Dear Ms. Gallagher:

I’m sorry you’ve had to wait so long for a response! We get backed up with your submissions from time to time. In any case, Sean Farragher (FRiGG poetry editor) loves these poems and would like to accept all of them for the spring 2007 issue of FRiGG. I hope they are all still available. (Is spring too long to wait? Our winter issue is full. We tend to work pretty far ahead.)

Can we publish these four poems in the spring 2007 issue of FRiGG? Once again, I’m so sorry for the delayed response.

3 rd round of 30:30....Rainfall and Sunshine...The Virgin of Teror

I finished my 3rd round of 30:30 just 5 days ago. I'm enjoying being free for now but that longing to get going again may surface sometime soon (well, I hope so : ))
I am trying to revise and sort out some more work to submit.

We've had a few days of heavy rain. The repaired leak in the kitchen was put to the test, luckily nothing seeped through : ) The terrace is awash with clothes to dry...thank goodness today the sun is shining and it's one of those fresh and beamingly blue-skied days that make me so glad to be alive.

I went to a village in the mountains on Friday. It is called 'Teror'. They have an impressive church there that houses the Virgin of the Island. People go there to make requests, give thanks and just soak up the incredible atmosphere the place has. I went and did all 3 things plus I discovered creamy yoghurts with mango flavour that I devored contentedly on a cobblestone street. :)

Dad just found out yesterday that his surgery has been cancelled to next week!
Not sure why that is...he is pretty fed up as the waiting is the worst part.

Lily Acceptance - Yes Yes Yes

I got an acceptance from Lily Literary e-zine today. Susan said they would like
to publish 'Falling out of Love' in the November issue which I am over the moon aboout. Thanks Susan. : )

My Dad

I guess this is my way of appealing to the Heavens - cyberspace, virtual worlds and online friends...my dad is going to have heart surgery tomorrow to remove a leaking metal valve and do a bypass on some arteries. This is his 2nd operation on his heart. If anyone has any spare positive vibes and prayers, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks.

T.H.Q. just wrote to say that they had considered some of the war poems very carefully for possible inclusion in their Sticks and Stones theme issue but at the end up they decided against it :( They have asked me to please consider them again though :)

An Ice-Cold Bath.......The Pedestal Acceptance

I was in a sweat for a week or so over a simultaneous submission I did whereby the same poem was accepted within hours by 2 e-zines. Mike from Noo accepted 'Episode iii: The Day the Shelling Started' as did The Pedestal Magazine. I was very lucky that Mike in Noo agreed to change to another poem in order for me to be able to place in both magazines. Thanks again Mike...I am really grateful for that. :)
Meanwhile I am over the moon at being in Pedestal. Thanks :)

'A Query Letter' from Juked

Juked which I discovered through Sarah J's blog (thanks Sarah :)) is amazingly funny and entertaining. I especially loved the above mentioned 'Query Letter'. He really captures that desperation involved in wanting a piece of writing to get accepted. If you haven't already read it, please do so, you are in for a big treat!

NOÖ Acceptance

Mike from NOÖ e-mailed to say they'd like to publish one of my war poems (Episode: III The Day the Shelling Started...) in the January Edition. Yes, yes, yes :) I am now resorting to more dodgy Irish dancing glee-steps on my sunny terrace! :) Thanks Mike.

Hotmail Takes a Decision on My Poetry - Plain Junk!

I am having a giggle about an e-mail that I have received from FRiGG Literary zine. I wrote to FRiGG today enquiring about a submission I made in July. They replied back within an hour or so with the following mail. I'm not sure why I am finding it so funny maybe it is a nervous gesture on my part as I feel that maybe Hotmail's elimination decision might be an omen of what is to come! :)) Anyway I'm glad I took them at their word and enquired after the 3 month period.

Blue House ....Red Chair and a Lucky Duck

This is the little house that we are staying in. I love the blues. There is one of me acting potty :)....and Vladi's red chair. Oh and some ducks we have befriended. I think the fact that Vladi has delicious prawn and corn bait may have persuaded them to hang out with us!
