Nearly There...BUT...

Eclectica and 42Opus

I've had 'nice' rejections from both Eclectica and 42Opus, telling me that I'm nearly there but this time 'No' but to please submit again. I know it's hopeful to hear this but since I've had this type of reaction a few times now, I'm left wondering what to do to push my work forward more in order to break into the acceptance barrier with these zines, as I sure do love the work they publish. I think it is a case of try and try again!

Kaleidowhirl

Kaleidowhirl have written to say that I submitted outside of the submission period but to please forward my submission again as they are 'considering' 'Deposits in the Heart Region' for the next issue. Fingers crossed.: )

The Hiss Quarterly and Word Riot Acceptance

The Hiss Quarterly and Word Riot have accepted some poems.

The Hiss Quarterly have accepted 2 poems and a piece of short fiction for their Birds and Bees issue; 'Desire on a Shoestring' (Report) and 'The Back-Boiler Room.'

I am doubly excited about my first ever short fiction piece being accepted by Hiss Quarterly: 'The Radio Kept Telling Me I Should Be Having Sex' (I am now a touch embarassed about the title, I just wrote it for fun and didn't really expect any success with it!!)

Word Riot are accepting 2 poems for their next issue: 'To Someone I Used to Love who Appears Unannounced in My Dreams' and 'Diary Entry: 4th Day of October - Shower Rattles'

Yes, yes, yes : ) Haven't written anything in nearly a month though...and the outlook is dodgy for the next few weeks. I'm kind of itching to get started but have heaps of un-writerly things to see to first...namely a much needed tax rebate and catching up on paperwork deadlines!

Lanzarote ....and Placing First at IBPC

Trip Away

We have just returned from Lanzarote. I absolutely loved all the blue and green houses and wide, forever-stretching plains...we had a fantastic time which little by little I hopefully will blog about! In the meatime the photos show the initial feel for the place.

IBPC

I was/am over the moon at placing first at IBPC. I couldn't even remember which poem had been put forward. It is a truly great holiday gift. The winning poem: 'A Poem that Thinks it Has Joined a Circus' and David Kirby's comments can be read here
