8 Things...River on Bangkok
Photo taken on the river in Bangkok. Sarah has tagged me with 'Reveal 8 Things about Yourself' so here goes.
1.When I was a kid, my favourite comfort ‘toy’ wasn’t a doll nor a teddy bear but a blue plastic dish. My parents tell me that I used to trail it everywhere with me and I loved chewing it!! I still have flashbacks of that dish.
2.I once had to pretend I was American. I was in Taiwan for 2 months – one month’s holiday and a month teaching English. In order to get a job as an English teacher, the agency that recruited me insisted I spent 3 hours in their office listening to American accents and repeating intonation etc They gave me a portfolio of the type of American person I was and sent me out to teach. It was really difficult. I only lasted 10 days!
3.As a child I wanted to be a singer. I had 4 different light bulbs which I had painted in green, white, gold (Irish Flag) and red (favourite colour). I used them as my microphones and sang to the trees in a wood nearby.
4.In my first year of University and as part of Rag Week, all the first year students dressed up and went out to collect money for a Children’s Charity. We saw the Prime Minister (Taoiseach) of Ireland on Dublin’s O’Connell Street and asked his security people if we could kidnap the Taoiseach for charity. Myself and 2 friends were the ones holding on to him for the photo shot. Our photo appeared with the Taoiseach on the front page of the newspapers with the headline ‘Students Kidnap Taoiseach’. I’m not sure if my parents were amused by this though : )
5.A dream of mine is to live in Thailand one day.
6.I had a summer job as a Telesales person in London. I won the monthly competition for ‘most effective’ voice.
7.The last time I drank whiskey was about 15 years ago. I fell unconscious and woke up 18 hours later on a bean bag. I couldn’t remember anything and my friends were worried that I was unconscious/asleep for so long. Even now the smell of whiskey triggers off that memory and I feel awful.
8.Two years ago I thought I was one year older than what I was – the discovery was immense. : )
I tag Brenda, Cheryl and Arlene with an 'only if they fancy it' clause :)

hahaha! this is a riot, liz — you are too funny!
i can't believe the agency actually asked you to impersonate an american — complete with portfolio. it's way tooooo 007 for me :D
that taoiseach kidnapping photo just tickles me silly. i'm amazed his "goons" even allowed you.
your age discovery kills me. i do it myself — as in, i actually say i'm a year older after the new year... this way i never get my age wrong or get behind on the counting. teehee.
off to think about i can write (that can't be used against me in the court of law). teehee.
a.
Thanks Arlene.
Can't wait to read yours, I'm sure they'll be a scream : ))

Love your list, Liz. The American part is very funny - i love how you couldn't pull it off.
Sometimes my age springs out to hit me in the face, too! And I'm left astounded, saying it's not true...
smile
Thanks Sam, Michi and Sarah : )
Hi Liz,
It is done. I love yours, especially the pretending to be an American and the kidnapping. I always round up on my age also. It is on my blog.
:) brenda
Plain bizarre reading - but great fun too. Pretending to be an American? Not as bad as pretending to be President ;)
Hi Brenda and Barbara, cheers for stopping by :)
