The Wrong Miracle Cover and Update...

...I love the cover, thanks to Chris for choosing it!

There have been a few different things happening regarding The Wrong Miracle lately...

* Over a month ago, it looked as if there would be no book and now everything is in all-systems-go mode again thanks to Chris and everyone at Salt for their great gusto and spirit and thanks to friends and family who have rallied round and bought some terrific Salt books. I'm awaiting the delivery of two short story books
Elizabeth Baines' Balancing on the Edge of the World and
Vanessa Gebbie's Words from a Glass Bubble and I cannot wait ....I have a less hectic work schedule now until July so am planning to have many afternoons swinging on the hammock that I rarely get to sit on and relishing in reading these books and others.

* Feet and Mouth and Shoes is the winning poem from the Listowel Writers' Single Poem competition and is in The Wrong Miracle and also in the Listowel Writers' Winners Anthology. ...I'm not too sure how one goes about getting the anthology so must enquire.

* Another poem from The Wrong Miracle called Spring the Life Fandango will be published in a forthcoming issue of The Stinging Fly.

* The author photos are done and awaiting zipping to Salt. I'm having some problems doing this but hoping to get to the bottom of it sooon.

* I've received the 4th proofs from Chris at Salt today and think they might be the last proofs... : )!

* The author webpage is underway - if you go to the Salt author page you can see a description of the book and the list of poems and a sample poem and the blurbs. The author photo and biography and pdf of sample poems have yet to be put up there. I'm getting excited at this stage and if I knew my Irish dancing jigs like all decent Irish girls should, I would be tap, tap, tapping goodo...but am settling for jumping up and down instead! ; )

Very many congratulations, that sure is one beautiful looking book ,it must be tremendously exciting at this stage on the cusp of publication.Little wonder you are jumping up and down.I'm really looking forward to reading it,I tried buying it via the link without success,is it available to pre-order with salt or do we need to be patient a little longer?

Hi TFE, it is exciting but the soles of my shoes are wearing thin from all the jumping ; )
Thanks for asking about pre-ordering...I've just this minute pressed the 'to buy' link and it's a blank so far...a bit like the way I feel just now as with a craving for tea but no bainne in the larder...(nor no cows on grassy lawns in sight only the sound of a wee bugger of a mouse that cheekily just walked in our front door and seem keen to stay...help!)

Liz, I like the cover too. It's good to see the tangible, human sign of the 'Just One Book' campaign too, knowing that such a good (I'm sure!) book wouldn't have existed without it. I'm looking forward to buying and reading both your and Tony Williams's books when they are published. On the site it says publication date is 1st November, so maybe it's too early for pre-publication orders.

Rob, thanks...hope you're not disappointed!
I think (and hope) it gets published at beginning of September (or earlier) to coincide with the Irish readings I'm doing.

I pm-ed you at POF but it may have gone astray...if so, I'll try again : )

cheers

WOOOOHOOOOO!! i just adore the book cover—it's goes so purrrrfectly with the poems.

thrilled to see that you've gotten the hang of reading in public. ;)

love that article on book reviews! it's certainly a more interesting way to go about writing a review. i usually read reviews only to peek at the excerpts—which count more to me when it comes to deciding whether i want to buy a book or not.

and yesssss, do join us at 30:30!! there are only 5 (once valerie comes back) of us now. it's rather lonely.

xoxoxo,
a.

Hi there, Arlene,
Thanks for stopping by...and ditto on book review reading...so pleased you like the cover, it's the second one, the first one was a different style, sort of kitschy
mad-seventies...a bit too weird, even for me! ; )
Am gearing up for 30:30, have just discovered very neglected lemon trees on the farm and am in a frenzy watering at the moment...using up valuable scribbling-time! ; )
xx
