We Are the World/Feed the World
Having a quiet night in and browsing youtube for some videos to use in class over the holiday season (cannot have just the jingle-bell mix!)...have really had a trip down memory lane with both of these...Feast your eyes on all those involved in both videos...momentous times, to say the least.

Is it compulsory to have "Do they know it's Christmas" played in every classroom during the last week of term? Brings back memories of all the boys in our class screwing up their fun picture templates into missiles and launching them at each other's heads whilst the girls all chatted and coloured in neatly :)

The following morning, Geldof appeared on the Radio 1 breakfast show with Mike Read, to promote the record further and promise that every penny would go to the cause. This led to a stand-off with the British Government, who refused to waive the VAT on the sales of the single. Geldof made the headlines by publicly standing up to Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher and, sensing the strength of public feeling, the government backed down and donated the tax back to the charity.
